- misrepresentation of data and results,
- falsification of materials, images (photos, figures, graphs), data, equipment, devices, methods or processes,
- citation and reference list manipulation (no references to used sources, inclusion of unused sources in the list of references, incorrect citation, etc.),
- violation of the ethical conduct of research, when the study objects are people or animals. - Violation of publication ethics:
- simultaneous submission of a manuscript to several journals for consideration,
- excessive self-citation,
- duplication of data from an already published study without new/additional analysis,
- submission to the journal of a translation of an article previously published in another language, without specifying this fact in the cover letter or in a note to the text of the article,
- manipulations of authorship: honorary, gift, guest, ghost, etc. - Non-disclosure of conflicts of interest and sources of funding:

A cover letter from the leading academic institution in the prescribed form should be enclosed with the manuscript, as well as a statement of a conflict of interest. The presence of a cover letter concerns only the authors' obligations and does not affect editorial decisions on publication and does not replace peer review.
All manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal are subject to anonymous peer review and are verified for originality in the "Antiplagiat" system. The comments of the reviewers are sent to the author without indication of the reviewer's name. The decision to publish (or reject) the article is made by the Editorial Board after the reviews and responses of the author are received and based on the results of verification in the "Antiplagiat" system. In certain cases, the Editorial Board may send the article for additional review, including statistical and methodological ones.

Interaction between the journal and the author
The editorial board of the journal corresponds with the responsible (contact) author, but if the team of authors wishes, letters can be sent to all authors for whom the e-mail address is specified.
All incoming articles to the journal Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis are pre-checked by the responsible secretary of the journal for compliance with formal requirements. At this stage, the article can be returned to the author (authors) for revision with a request to eliminate errors or add missing data. Also at this stage, the article may be rejected due to its inconsistency with the objectives of the journal, lack of originality, low scientific value.
After the preliminary check, the responsible editor passes the article to the reviewer with an indication of the terms of review. The author is notified accordingly.
In controversial cases, the editor may involve several specialists, as well as the editor-in-chief in the review process.
If the reviewer's conclusion is positive, the article is submitted to the editor for preparation for printing.
If the decision is made to revise the article, the reviewer's comments and remarks are passed to the author. The author is given 2 months to eliminate the comments. If during this period the author has not notified the editorial office about the planned actions, the article is removed from the publication queue.
If the decision to refuse to publish the article is made, the corresponding decision of the editorial office is sent to the author.
The responsible (contact) author of the article accepted for publication is sent the final version of the layout, which he/she is obliged to check. A response is expected from the authors within 2 days. If there is no response from the author, the layout of the article is considered approved.
Procedure for reviewing the decisions of the editor/reviewer
If the author does not agree with the conclusion of the reviewer and/or editor or individual remarks, he/she can challenge the decision. To do this, the author should:
- correct the manuscript of the article according to the justified comments of reviewers and editors;
- clearly state his/her position on the issue at hand.
The editors encourage the resubmission of manuscripts that could potentially be accepted but were rejected due to the need for substantial changes or additional data collection, and are ready to explain in detail what needs to be corrected in the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication.
Editorial action in case of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data
In case of detection of bad faith behavior on the part of the author, detection of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, the editorial board is guided by COPE rules.
By “bad faith behavior” Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxismeans any action by a scientist that includes improper handling of objects of study or intentional manipulation of scientific information so that it no longer reflects observable research, as well as behavior by a scientist that does not meet accepted ethical and scientific standards.
The Journal of Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxisdoes not include “dishonest behavior” honest mistakes or honest disagreements in the plan, conduct, interpretation, or evaluation of research methods or results, or dishonest behavior unrelated to the scientific process.
Correction of errors and withdrawal of the article
If errors are found in the text of the article that affect the perception of the article but do not distort the reported research results, they may be corrected by replacing the pdf file of the article and pointing out the error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal's website.

The withdrawn article is marked with the sign “Article withdrawn”, information about the reason for withdrawal of the article is placed on the article page. Information about the article withdrawal is sent to the databases in which the journal is indexed.
Use of artificial intelligence in the preparation of an article
In connection with the spreading practice of using programs based on artificial intelligence, including in the preparation and writing of scientific articles, the editorial board of Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis considers it necessary to focus the attention of the authors on the following provisions.
1.Chatbots such as ChatGPT (and similar bots) can never be credited as the author of an article or as a contributor to an article. Artificial intelligence programs and tools do not meet the requirements of authorship because they are not (and cannot be) responsible for the work submitted, cannot declare the presence and absence of conflicts of interest, and cannot manage copyright.
2. The use of chatbots or other programs based on artificial intelligence is not prohibited when preparing an article. In some cases, such programs may be useful for text editing, searching for additional sources of literature, data collection and analysis. However, it should be taken into account that chatbots often transmit false information to the user (literally “invent” non-existent facts and links to publications that never existed), so authors should check the information received from chatbots.
3. If a program based on artificial intelligence was used to work with the article, it is necessary to specify this information in the article. Always specify the version of the program and the date of use.
4. Remember that only the author is responsible for the final text of the article submitted for consideration to the Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxisJournal, regardless of which artificial intelligence-based programs were used and to what extent.
5.Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis editorial staff uses the Antiplagiat module to detect generated text.
Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis shares the position of the international publishing community regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the preparation of scientific articles, as stated in the following documents: Chatbots, Generative AI, and Scholarly Manuscripts, Artificial intelligence (AI) in decision making
Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis utilizes the Scholarly Publishing Neuroassistant software to handle manuscripts at all stages of the workflow. Neuroassist is offered to be used by authors to analyze articles, by reviewers, and by editors when preparing articles for publication.
“Neuroassistant of scientific publishing” combines the following services:
- Bibliographic references recommendation service
- Keyword recommendation service
- Citation source search service
- Evaluation of article design quality
The reviewer and the editor of Pediatric dentistry and dental prophylaxis receive a brief report on the author's use of Neuroassistants. The reviewer is obliged to evaluate the expediency of using the recommendations of “Neuroassistent”. The editor is obliged to indicate in the final version of the article that services based on artificial intelligence were used to prepare the article for publication.
Only a human can interpret the results of Neuroassistant services and make a decision on the expediency of proposed corrections and additions.
Neuroassistant can under no circumstances be listed as the author of the article. The author, reviewer, and editor may, but are not obligated to, accept all corrections and additions suggested by Neuroassistant. The author, reviewer and editor are responsible for the use of corrections and additions suggested by the Neuroassistant.
